Knicks Land Melo

Knicks get Melo, Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter, and Renaldo Balkman. Denver gets Gallo, Chandler, Felton, Mosgov, Knicks 2014 first round pick.

Denver Post Reports Trade Will Come Very Soon

http://www.denverpost.com/sports

Denver post reports that Melo was not in practice today due to heavy talks between the Knicks and Nuggets and trade could come as soon as tonight and the deal is details before the deal is annoced. There are also reports out there that once the Melo deal is annoced the Nuggets will trade Mosgov and Gallo to NJ for two first round draft picks. This deal doesn't make sense for NJ why would they trade two high draft picks for a center, if they already have Brook Lopez as their starting center and I doubt that anyone thinks Gallo is worth two first round picks. The only logic that has been talked about is that NJ is trying to build a rivalry between NY and NJ but it doesn't seem logical they would mortgage part of their furture just to build a rivalry, so I doubt that deal goes through.

Is the Melo Drama About to Come to an End

Via Denver Post: (link attached)
"LOS ANGELES — The Nuggets appear to be closing in on a deal to trade star forward Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks.
The teams talked through the weekend and are working out the final details of what would be a blockbuster trade. NBA commissioner David Stern did not want a major trade announced on the day of the All-Star Game.
While final details were still being negotiated, the latest trade offer includes New York sending guard Raymond Felton, forwards Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari, centers Timofey Mozgov and Eddy Curry and a first-round draft pick to the Nuggets for Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams and Anthony Carter or Renaldo Balkman, according to NBA sources."
so why isn't the trade done now? It is really starting to look like Dolan is running the show eventhough that was denied yesterday, It seemed like Walsh was comtempt to just wait it out and not give into to Denver, and that is what this trade is doing. If I was a GM I would not give up Mozgov that quickly he is a young cheap starter in an area were the Knicks don't have much depth at.

Melo to let Nets Know Today

"Carmelo Anthony is expected to inform the Nets on Monday whether or not he would accept a trade to New Jersey and sign an extension.
This brings into sharp focus what has been known for a while — “The Nets and Nuggets have a deal in place pending Anthony’s willingness to sign an extension.” Melo’s ‘willingness’ has been the major stumbling block for the Nets, however, and it seems very unlikely that he’ll spurn the Knicks.
New Jersey is reportedly still optimistic after meeting with him on Sunday, though Mikhail Prokhorov seemed less hopeful when he said “I think we made a very good tactical decision to force (the) Knicks to pay as much as they can.” We shouldn’t have to wait long for resolution."
Melo wants this to be over now, but the nuggets aren't doing him any favors. He wants to be a Knick and Denver knows it. There is no way that Melo would want to spend his prime years playing for one of the worst teams in the league, NJ is not a better situation then he is in Denver right now. But Denver is trying to gain some leverage with the Knicks by threatning to trade him to NJ and if they can they will try to persuade him to take a trade to NJ because Denver knows that their deal is much more valuable than the Knicks deal.

@Chris_Broussard: Sources say Den has not given NYK ultimatum that if Mozgov's not in deal, they'll trade him to NJ

Is New Jersey even an option? Sources said that they reached an agreement and NJ allready said that they meet with Melo. It seems that NJ isn't really in option but Denver is just trying to make the Knicks to give up more. The deal the knicks have on the table is fair enough amd i just don't see the Knicks giving in and giving up their starting rookie center who has played very well for them this season. Denver doesn't have any leverage because it's either NY or noting. Either way I think that a deal gets done by the Thursday trade deadline.

NBA All-Star Game Recap

The West take the Game 148-143 over the East. Lebron led the East with 29 points and Kobe led the west with 37 points. Kobe earns his fourth NBA all-star game MVP. As his complete stats were 37pts, 14 reb, 3 ast, 3 blk.

Was Johan Santana's trade worth it?

In 2008 when the Mets were able to land two-time cy young winner Johan Santana the deal looked like a steal. Although they didn't give up anything thing, as the star prospects they gave up to Minnesota, some of them never made it past triple A. A good example of this would be pitcher Phil Humber known to be the best player in the trade never lived up to his expectations. But the Mets still gave Santana, at the time the biggest contract for a pitcher ever. Recently Santana has also declined as his speed on his fastball has went from a 94 mph fastball to an average of 89 mph on his fastball. He also missed the last half of last season and is set to miss at least the first half of this up comming season due to an operation on his throwing shoulder and the question has to be asked will he ever be what he was in Minnesota? or just a mere glimpse of his past. If he doesn't return his greatness the Mets would have to still pay him a 20+ million dollar contract for the next three years plus a club option and if they donn't pick up that option there is a 5.5 million dollar buy out. So while there are some recent negatives to the Santana deal so far he has pitched as the ace that he was brought here for but only time will tell if the trade was worth the Mets had to pay.
